This page describes what the site keeps in your browser and what it does not put there. It is written from how the site actually works.
No banner, and why
The site counts its visits without cookies and without writing anything to your browser. To know how many people come by in a day, each visitor is recognized for that day only by an anonymous fingerprint: a hash of the IP address and the browser with a random salt, drawn each day and destroyed the next. The IP address is not kept. Fingerprints are deleted after 30 days; only totals remain: page views, visitors per day, pages read, referring site reduced to its domain name, number of people who saw a maintenance or incident notice.
This measurement is used only to know how much the site is visited. It does not follow you from one day to the next or across other sites, its data is neither combined with other data nor passed on to third parties, and no advertising or tracking cookie is set. It therefore falls within the consent exemption provided by the CNIL (the French data protection authority) for audience measurement: there is nothing to ask you to accept, so there is no banner. If your browser sends "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control", your visit is not counted at all.

These values do not leave your browser and are not used to recognise you from one visit to the next. The username is only used to prefill your vote and your purchases; your skin's head is fetched by the site itself, without passing your address on to the skin image service.
