Proximity voice chat
With proximity voice chat, you talk through your microphone to the players near you. The range is about 48 blocks, and your voice fades as the distance grows. It is available on Astralya.
What you need
- Minecraft Java Edition. Bedrock players do not have voice chat.
- The free Simple Voice Chat mod, for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge or Quilt.
- A version of the mod that matches the server version (26.2). The mod page shows the exact version to download.
- Your Minecraft account linked to Discord with
/discord link.
Connecting
- Install the Simple Voice Chat mod, then launch Minecraft.
- Join the server as usual, at
wiki.astralya.net. - If your account is not linked yet, type
/discord linkand follow the steps. - The first time you connect to voice chat, a window asks you to accept the risk. Moderation does not moderate voice chat, and other players can record what you say. The server rules apply.
- Click I accept and take the risk. Voice chat turns on right away.
Using it

V | Opens the settings: microphone, voice activation or push-to-talk key. |
M | Mutes your microphone. |
N | Mutes all of voice chat. |
These are the default keys. You can change them in Minecraft's controls.
In the player list (Tab key), the 🔊 icon next to a name shows that the player is connected to voice chat.
Reporting a player
Send the player's name, the time and a recording on the Discord. Without a recording, no sanction is possible.
The server rules also apply to voice chat. In case of abuse, your access can be removed without notice.
Voice chat does not work
The microphone icon is crossed out, or you hear nothing.
- Check that the Simple Voice Chat mod is up to date.
- Check that Windows allows your microphone for Minecraft.
- Restart the game.
If nothing changes, open a support ticket on the Discord.
